The Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has
been established in 1952. It is a private, autonomous and
non-profit organization, associated with the Cyprus Chamber
of Commerce and Industry. It has today 400 members and 4 professional
associations, representing 250 members.
Since
the Turkish invasion in 1974 and the occupation of the Famagusta
Town, the FCCI is temporarily operating in Limassol.
The
oldest traces of settlements in an area found near the modern
town of Famagusta, Enkomi, go back to the 13th century B.C.,
the Bronze Age. At the start of the Iron Age the town, now
